Label Description:
“My family has been farming and ranching in the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County for over 40 years. We grow Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc in the warmer, eastern end of the valley and Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah in the Santa Rita Hills appellation in the cooler, western end of the valley. These estate vineyards produce small crops of intensely flavored grapes. The world class wines we make from them are expressions of our respect for the land in the most beautiful part of California.”
This is the first time I have tasted this wine, but it immediately provided the “whoa” factor: Clean deep ruby in color, it had a very intense nose right from the bottle. Black berries, chocolate, vanila. This profile persisted on the palate with strong acidity and balanced tannins, overall a well made, well structured wine. Retail at about $20 ( I purchased the wine for $13!). At either price point a very good buy. Highly recommended.
