On the website there is little extra explanation other than to say the wine is sourced from vineyards of 15 to 25 years old. The wine is aged in 50% French and 50% American oak for 12 months.
Here is a review from Majestic Wine:
“The 2006 Emilio Moro was aged in French and American oak for 12 months. It has a superb bouquet of smoke, roasted herbs, scorched earth, and blackberry. Layered on the palate, it has tons of fruit, plenty of spice box notes, a firm structure, and 2-3 years of ageing potential.’ 92 points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.”
OK … so not much on the bottle. This is the winery’s volume bottling coming in at a much
lower price to their premium offerings. With that said, the wine itself is true to the types of wines coming today from Ribero del Duero – medium to full bodied, dark garnet color, lots of berries on the nose, fruit forward, somewhat spicy, with a lingering finish.
Not a wine that would standout as an “epiphany”, but a very satisfying bottle of wine for a very decent price (~$17). Definitely recommended.
