Label Description:

80% Syrah 10% Mourvedre 10% Grenache

Our vineyards are planted on the limestone slopes of the Pic Saint-Loup mountain and face the Mediterrean Sea on a South West exposure. This wine is packed with aromas of ripe red fruites and intensely spiced “garrigue” flavours from the aromatic plants and wild herbs of the South of France and produce a rich, silky finish. The tannins are beautiful rounded and the concentrated plum and cherry fruit give the wine excellent texture and mouthfeel. This wine will drink well with any grilled meat, mature hard cheeses or rich stews. Try it also with a spicy dish, where the intensity of the fruit will be a perfect match. To be served at 16C.”

RATING: Very Satisfied thumbs up 75 2008 Domaine Haut Lirou Coteaux Du Languedoc Pic Saint Loup

OK … so not much on the bottle. This is the wineries volume bottling coming in at a much lower price to their premium offerings. With that said, the wine itself is true to the types of quality, inexpensive wines coming from Southern France (Pic Saint-Loup). This is a great example of how many of the French wines have evolved – retains its positive qualities as noted above on the label, but has more of a New World feel that is drinkable when released.
