Absolutely! The numbers reflect number of followers at one point in time. What they don't speak to is the relative effort and return related to these numbers. These can only be evaluated by working with the wineries themselves to better understand the costs and benefits. I did follow up the first report with a survey, which I may do again that will provide a broader perspective regarding the standings.

Thanks again for the comments.

Thanks for the clarification on methodology. Definitely shows the problem with raw statistics without human interpretation.

Keep the reports coming!

bobavo .. I didn't classify these wineries as leaders (although I do believe some are). I am only reporting the top wineries on Twitter based on number of followers. As I mentioned, there is also a section regarding "most influence" on WeFollow, but the only way I can compare "apples to apples" so to speak is to go by the followers.

In the original research I did compare the type, frequency and content of the tweets of the top 50, and I followed the research with a survey that I sent out to the top 50 in an attempt to guage the value of the Twitter activity and presence. In this follow up I only reported on the rankings. And I do have to say that the number of followers does not of and by itself equate to the quality of the wine or winery, although in some cases again I do believe it does.

Regarding Capozzi ... you are correct. The twitter name is PinotBlogger.

Thanks for the comment.

Rimon Winery a leader? Did you happen to look at their tweets? All, and I mean all, about gaining twitter followers. Nothing about wine. Is it really a winery?

Did you group Capozzi Winery with PinotBlogger? Couldn't find a dedicated Copozzi acount on Twitter. Very little from PinotBlogger about his winery, so not sure it's relevant to your stats.
